Abstract and Paper Submission
Abstracts must be submitted by the deadline indicated in the Key Dates section. All abstracts must be written in English and have a length between 150 and 300 words. Submissions must be made exclusively through the ConfTool platform.
Authors of accepted abstracts are invited to submit their full papers for inclusion in the Proceedings of the 5th fib Symposium on Conceptual design of Structures 2027. Papers must be written in English and prepared strictly according to the official template, which can be downloaded below.
Full papers should be between 6 and 8 pages in length, including all text, figures, tables, references, and acknowledgements. Submissions must be made online only through the ConfTool submission platform. Please ensure that the title, keywords, and abstract are updated on the ConfTool system when uploading the final version.
All submitted papers will undergo peer review, and authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts prior to final acceptance. Accepted papers will be published in the Symposium Proceedings. At least one author must register for the Symposium for their paper to be published in the proceedings, which are indexed in Scopus. The best papers will be evaluated for possible publication in the Structural Concrete, the journal of the fib.
Following acceptance, a further selection will identify the papers that most closely align with the definition of conceptual design provided on the Symposium homepage.
These selected papers will be assigned to oral presentations, with a presentation time of approximately 20 minutes.
All other accepted papers will be presented during dedicated poster sessions. The poster sessions are intended as an active and engaging forum for discussion. During these sessions, a panel of experts will visit every poster and interact directly with the authors. Each author will be invited to explain, in a brief discussion of approximately 2–3 minutes, how the contribution presented in the paper can be interpreted as an advancement or application of the principles of conceptual design of structures.
This format is intended to stimulate reflection on the role of conceptual design within research and practice, while ensuring that all accepted contributions receive visibility and constructive feedback from the scientific community.
Authors are kindly requested to follow the template formatting and style guidelines carefully, as papers not complying with the required format may be returned and risk exclusion from publication.
The author consent to the collection, processing, and storage of personal data for the purposes of registration, participation, and communication related to the activities of this conference. The data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and will only be used for the purposes stated above.
