Conceptual Design of Precast Concrete Modular Buildings
Full Professor of Structural Concrete at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, since 2011. His research focuses on innovative precast concrete systems and rehabilitation of existing structures. He has coordinated or participated in 35 R&D projects, securing over €11 million in funding, and authored more than 500 publications, including around 230 Scopus-indexed papers (h-index 50). Recognised among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists, he has received several teaching excellence awards and held major academic leadership positions. He is President of GPBE, head of the Portuguese delegation to fib, Associate Editor-in-Chief of Structural Concrete, fib Fellow and Honorary Life Member, and will serve as Deputy Chair of the fib Technical Council from 2027.
